EU MODEX CZECH 2023

Between

17th

and

20th

of

October

2023,

the

lasst

water-related

exercise

of

Lot

2,

was

hosted

by

Moravian

–

Silesian

Region,

Czech

Republic

with

the

participation

of

6

specialized

modules

from

6

countries:

Bosnia

and

Herzegovina

(HCP*),

Germany

(HCP),

Italy

(HCP),

Netherland

(EHCP),

Poland (HCP) and Sweeden (HCP). The exercise was the sixth one organized by the CN APELL-RO, as leading consortium.

* HCP: High-Capacity Pumping Module, EHCP – Extreme High-Capacity Pumping.

All

the

teams

participating

in

the

exercise

put

their

skills,

protocols

and

gear

to

the

test,

but

most

importantly,

they

were

challenged

to

coordinate

their

missions with each other in the field.

Frydek-Mistek

municipality

proved

to

be

a

perfect

location

to

test

the

capabilities

of

the

international

modules

deployed

in

Czech

Republic

to

support

the

local

authorities

during

the

floods.

For

three

days,

Ostra,

Opava

and

Ostravica

rivers

and

the

lakes

in

the

surrounding

area

were

the

scene

of

continuous

activities

of

pumping

water

keeping

the

wave

of

flood

under

control.

The

Base

of

Operation

was

established

close

to

municipality

provid

-

ing perfect conditions for modules to install their tents, park all the trucks and being close enough to the working areas.

With

the

great

support

of

our

hosts,

Moravian-Silesian

Fire

Brigade,

the

Consortium

successfully

managed

to

deliver

a

realistic

environment

to

test

the international modules in a water related exercise.
